Today we started the unit on food. La comida unidad 7 pagina 57. We looked at the four different meals Spanish people have: El desayuno - breakfast, El almuerzo- lunch, La merienda (snacks at around 6.30, 7pm) y la cena- dinner. For those meals come four verbs: desayunar (reg), almorzar(radical changing o>ue--> almuerzo...),merendar (radical changing e>ie --> meriendo) y cenar (reg) Looked at vocab pages 58 and 59 and did listening ex 2page 59. Also looked at key phrases to order food or drinks in a restaurant with ex. 3 page 60. Below is a list of important verbs when talking about food: comer - to eat (reg), beber- to drink (reg), traer- to bring (first person traigo, rest reg), pedir- to ask for (radical changing e>i --> pido, pides etc...), poner- to put (first person pongo, rest reg pones, pone...), deber- to owe (reg) and desear = querer- to want (reg) homework: ex 1, 2 and 3 ...

descripciones1 In the last few lessons we revised the present tense and also learnt about adjectives using unit 6 of the book. We also worked on a short film talking about everyday life. Today we started working on describing people. We talked about hair colours / eye colours and learnt vocabulary about parts of your face. Attached is a powerpoint with details about hair/ eye colours and you can use the last few slides to practise. If you want to write a description of these people and bring your work in next lesson, I'll be more than happy to correct it for you. Also below is a list of parts of the face --> la cara Los ojos - eyes, las orejas: ears, el frente: forehead, el menton: chin, los carrillos: cheeks, la boca: mouth, los dientes / las muelas : teeth, la nariz: nose, el pelo: hair, el cuello: neck

La rutina diaria – Martes el 3 de febrero

Today we leant about routine and started unit 6 (p.49). See the powerpoint attached for vocab.rutina-diaria Please note that there are lots of reflexive verbs. A reflexive verb expresses an action you are doing to yourself. For example: lavarse meant to wash (yourself) if you wash the car it is just lavar without the 'se'. Eg. Me lavo, te lavas, se lava, nos lavamos, os lavais, se lavan LIstening exercise ex.4 p.52 to practise and writing ex.4p.105. We also revised lots of irregular verbs including irregular first person and radical changing verbs. Eg. salir, to go out--> salgo; poner, to put --> pongo; hacer, to do --> hago and dormir, to sleep--> duermo; volver, to come back --> vuelvo (ex.1 p.105) Homework: ex. 10 and 11 p.108

Practise doing ex. 5 p.52.   Revised days of the week : Los días de la semana Powerpoint attached   Revised hobbies   Put all three things together performing a role play in pairs to complete a diary page asking the question: ¿Qué haces el lunes a la una? Verb Hacer: To do Hago, Haces, hace, hacemos, hacéis, hacen. (1st person irregular, rest is normal)   Los deberes: Write a diary of your week in Spanish using days and times.

Revision to start off: Family members/ animals/ agreement rules for feminine and plural / verb endings doing exercises 1 to 4 p.93 Ex 8 A and B page 14 Started to learn more verbs looking at hobbies: Las aficiones / los pasatiempos ex. 5 page 12 + Page 18 ex. A and B Que quieres hacer por el fin de semana? --> Verb QUERER to want is radical changing like TENER : Quiero, quieres, quiere, queremos, quereis, quieren. It is followed either by a noun. Eg. Quiero un cafe: I want a coffee. Or a verb in the infinitive. Eg. Quiero beber un cafe. I want to drink a coffee. Ended the lesson with a cultural point (B page 125) on names in Spain. A child takes both his father's surname and his mother's. Also women keep their names even if they marry. Homework: revise everything so far doing exercises pages 90 to 92. Don't forget to ...
